As a follow up to the International Fez Forum on the Project of the Union for the Mediterranean, convened in Fez on 4, 5 and 6 June 2008, under the High Patronage of His Majesty King Mohammed VI, the Moroccan delegation was received today at the Elysée Palace by Mr. Henri Gaino, First Counsellor to the President of the French Republic and Mr. Jacques Huntziger, Extraordinary Ambassador to Quai d’Orsay, in the presence of Xavier Guerrand, President of the Hermes Foundation for Peace.

| The delegation was made up of the following persons: Mr. Abdelhak Azzouzi, President CMIESI, Mr. Abdallah Harsi, General Secretary, Mr. Mohamed Fakihi, Vice President of CMIESI, Mr. M’Hammed Zouitni and Mr. Najib Ba Mohammed, advisors at CMIESI, Mr. Hamid Chabat, Mayor of the City of Fez, Mr. M’Hammed Douiri, President of the Fez-Boulemane Region, and Mr. Driss El Mouadini, President of the Regional Council of the Islamic Worship, Languedoc Roussignol. The President’s Counsellor congratulated members of the delegation for the success of the Fez Forum.
During the meeting, the participants exchanged views concerning the Fez Forum Final Declaration, emphasising all potentialities of the Project of creation of the Union of the Mediterranean. The discussion focussed particularly on the need to give special priority to domains of common interest whose realisation would rally agreement among representatives from both sides of the Mediterranean. |
