On Saturday October 30 in Rabat, Professor Abdelhak Azzouzi, received the Mediterranean Parliamentary Assembly Award during the 5th Plenary Session of the Mediterranean Parliamentary Assembly, convened in the Moroccan Parliament (October 28-30, 2010). The event was hosted by the Moroccan Parliament. The award, announced during the proceedings of the third permanent commission of APM which convened last June (24-26) in Belgrade, was bestowed upon Professor Abdelhak Azzouzi, President of the Moroccan Interdisciplinary Center for Strategic and International Studies, for his commitment to the promotion of culture, education and dialogue among peoples of the Mediterranean.
Professor Azzouzi declared to the media that this distinction is an act of recognition, by the intellectual, cultural and parliamentary communities, of the prominent role played by all the Moroccan and Mediterranean youth in the building of the Mediterranean basin. He also stated his strong belief in the historical work that is being achieved for the promotion of culture and education in the Mediterranean. He further declared that this award is a consecration for all the young people who militate for the Union for the Mediterranean to be a panacea for a shared productive system. The winning areas are those which know how to unite North and South: ASEAN+3 in Eastern Asia and ALENA in America are a case in point. The two experiences constitute a major form of territorial regionalization. Professor Abdelhak Azzouzi then expressed his hope that the great project of setting up a Euro-Med university in Fez will be realized soon. This project, along with the Mediterranean Center for Scientific Research, the Mediterranean Youth Agency, the Anna Lindh Foundation and the Euro-Med University in Slovenia, will be able to establish a bridge of knowledge and sustainable development between the two banks of the Mediterranean. The future of the two banks is determined by education, knowledge, research and culture.
Dr. Abdelhak Azzouzi is the president of the Moroccan Interdisciplinary Center for Strategic and International Studies (www.cmiesi.ma). He is the President of Schools of Hope Foundation (www.feefes.com) that has so far rehabilitated 94 schools. He is the general manager of the Spirit of Fez Foundation (www.espritdefes.com) that organizes the yearly Festival of Fez of World Sacred music, the Festival of Jazz, the Festival Amazigh, the Festival of Clinary Arts and many other Art activities. He was named the Representative of the region of Fez-Boulemane for the project of the Euro Mediterranean University and Fez Techno-Valley. He is responsible of the creation of the next Library (one of the biggest Libraries in the Arab and Muslim world) and the Opera of Fez.

Abdelhak Azzouzi holds a PhD in political sciences and of international relations of the University of the Sciences politics of Toulouse, France. He is among the founders of the Group of Studies and Research on the African Continent (CHAPPED) which is annexed to the IEP of Toulouse. He is president of the Forum of Fez on the union for the Mediterranean and President of the forum of Fez on the Alliance of the civilizations and Cultural Divesity (www.cmiesi.ma). He is a professor at the school ofLaw, Economic and Social Sciences, University Sidi Mohamed Ben Abdellah of Fez. He is a consultant member with several national and international organizations. He participated in several meetings, forums and animated several lectures in Morocco and abroad. He published with the edition House the Harmattan: Authoritarianism and Hazards of the Democratic Transitions in the countries of the Maghreb (406 pages). He published under his direction nine volumes on the Alliance of the civilizations and Cultural Diversity (2393 pages in 2008 and 2009) with the edition House l’Harmattan. He published several academic works in magazines and collective works in Moroccan and Foreign publications. Abdelhak Azzouzi is a specialist in dialogue between Cultures and religions and very he is engaged in defending the Alliance of the civilizations and Cultural Diversity. He has also written about immigration, Foreign Political Arab countries, the relationship between the United States, Europe and the Arab States, politically speaking as well as in terms of cooperation(political systems, civil, democratization studies), on the relationship between politics and religion, on the political and constitutional history of Arab States. He has contributed widely to the recent debate on the project of Union for the Mediterranean. The City of Fez was able in this respect to be the site of the future Euro Mediterranean University.
